Leading Sustainable Organizations
Our April 28, 2011, video webcast featured a conversation on sustainability and innovation moderated by MIT Sloan Management Review editor-in-chief Michael S. Hopkins.
Featured guests were Peter M. Senge, senior lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management; Peter Graf, chief sustainability officer at SAP; and Knut Haanaes, global leader — sustainability initiative for The Boston Consulting Group.
The one-hour conversation looked at the findings of the second annual Sustainability & Innovation Global Executive Study by MIT SMR and The Boston Consulting Group, and the emergence of two distinct camps of companies: “embracers” — those who place sustainability high on their agenda — and “cautious adopters,” who have yet to focus on more than energy cost savings, material efficiency, and risk mitigation.
The conversation also follows our Q&A with Graf last fall about how, as the business management software company’s first-ever chief sustainability officer, Graf made a business case for sustainability to SAP’s board of directors.
